While some of the trails are beginner-friendly, most require a good level of fitness, as you should be prepared to walk 6–8 hours per day. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us. We’ll provide detailed information about trail difficulty and, if this itinerary isn’t a good fit, we’ll recommend the best options based on your experience and preference.
Accommodations vary depending on the day. In some cases, you’ll have rooms with private bathrooms shared only with your roommate. However, in most smaller villages, facilities are shared with others, as private bathrooms are not available. Additionally, for two nights, you’ll be camping in tents in the wild, surrounded by nature.
Mobile network coverage is generally available on most of the part of the trails, but the speed and quality can be inconsistent, especially in remote areas. Guesthouse Wi-Fi may not always be reliable due to heavy usage by other travelers, weather conditions, or technical issues with cell towers. Also, power outages are not uncommon, so it’s a good idea to bring a portable charger.
We recommend packing light while ensuring you bring essential items such as sturdy hiking shoes, a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and a daypack to carry everything. Also sleeping bag and mat, but this and heavy stuff will be transported/carried by horse. After booking your tour, you’ll receive a detailed packing list along with other important trip preparation details to help you get ready.
We had an amazing self-guided trek in Tusheti – my second trek with this company. Would happily do a third! The team put together a great itinerary, tailor-made around our dates. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, the food far exceeded our expectations. The scenery was stunning. Wonderful views every day. We loved the GPS system, which took away much of the stress of navigating, leaving us free to enjoy the journey. Thank you Nino, Ana and team. We are already talking about our next trip!
We have done the Tusheti self-guided trip, which was absolutely fabulous. Tusheti is a very unique, remote and wonderful corner of the world. Great nature, incredible Georgian hospitality, superb walks. The organization of the trip was impeccable, the customer support is fantastic: the communication, trip notes, planning, maps etc. everything worked very well.
Outstanding company. All staff very professional. Excellent arrangements- thoughtful, well put together and excellent information and preparation throughout. Could not recommend more highly.
